Sky and Virgin Media are set to undergo seven channel changes in February, with two popular channels closing down. Both entertainment giants have flagged these significant alterations.
Sky Showcase and Sky Max will be discontinued in February, making way for the return of Sky One. The revamped station is set to debut on channel 106 from 24th February.
Other modifications include Nick SpongeBob reverting back to Nicktoons, while Sky Comedy temporarily transforms into Groundhog Day HD. Sky asserts that these changes will make it 'easier than ever' for viewers to locate their favourite programmes.
Sky One is slated to become the hub for Sky's comedy and entertainment offerings, featuring new shows like The Dyers' Caravan Park and Gemma Collins: Four Weddings and a Baby, as well as Rob and Romesh Vs. Additionally, Sky One will host Saturday Night Live UK, which is set to launch later this year.
'Our goal is to make it easier than ever for Sky TV customers to find and enjoy the shows they love,' stated Carli Kerr, MD of Sky TV and NOW. 'Building on the iconic heritage of Sky One, the channel will be a one-of-a-kind destination that's big, bold and bursting with energy.'
The Sky and Virgin Media channel changes will commence from Monday, 2nd February. Later in the month, Sky Showcase and Sky Max are scheduled for closure.
