Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsy) has set her sights on Ross Barton (Michael Parr) in Emmerdale, but her romantic interest is driven by a hidden agenda. She is determined to uncover the truth about what happened to her cousin John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) and Nate Robinson, and she sees Ross as a means to an end.
Serena's Arrival and Suspicion
Serena first appeared in the village as a confidante for Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins), who had just revealed her rape ordeal. However, it soon became clear that Serena was not impartial. She declared herself a Sugden and hinted at secrets about John. Most villagers, especially Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), have viewed her with suspicion, but Ross has been smitten from the start.
Despite Serena's repeated rejections, Ross remains undeterred. He sees her as the one woman in the village he hasn't conquered, and he is determined to change that. However, Serena's resistance may be wearing thin—or she may have an ulterior motive.
Home Farm Intruder and a Stolen USB Stick
While Ross pursues Serena, he neglects his duties as Head of Operations at Home Farm. An intruder breaks in, and Kim Tate (Claire King) is furious. She demands Ross investigate a list of suspects, including Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) and Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley). Moira laughs off the accusation, and Robert's involvement prompts Aaron to confront Ross, leading to a physical fight. Serena intervenes, sending Ross away and pleading with Aaron to let her stay. She explains the full story about John, and Aaron reluctantly agrees.
Meanwhile, Kim discovers that a simple USB stick has been stolen. This clue tells her a lot about the thief's intentions.
Serena's Plan Unfolds
With Robert injured and unable to work the farm, Aaron offers Serena a job. This plays directly into Serena's hands. She uses the opportunity to get closer to Ross, who is more than happy to oblige. He believes his charm has finally worked, but Serena's interest may be tied to his position at Home Farm and the stolen USB stick.
According to Metro, Serena is on a mission to find out more about what happened to Nate and John. Her spidey-senses suggest that Ross's role as Head of Operations could be key to her investigation.
What's Next for Serena and Ross?
As Serena gets closer to Ross, viewers are left wondering whether her feelings are genuine or purely strategic. Ross, oblivious to her motives, is thrilled that his old charm has done its magic. However, the stolen USB stick and Serena's hidden agenda suggest that a dramatic revelation is on the horizon.
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV at 7:30pm.
