Sally Nugent has shared a two-word message of support for Naga Munchetty after her departure from BBC Breakfast was announced.
On Tuesday, July 28, Munchetty confirmed she would step back from the morning programme after 17 years. She also revealed her new role as co-presenter of BBC Radio 5 Live's breakfast show, beginning in January.
Following the announcement on BBC Breakfast alongside Jon Kay, Nugent took to social media. She posted on her story: 'Congratulations @tvnaga,' supporting Munchetty's move to the radio programme.
Jon Kay Announces Munchetty's Departure
During the Tuesday show, Jon Kay said: 'Our friend and colleague Naga Munchetty has announced that she will be leaving BBC Breakfast to co-present the BBC 5 Live Breakfast Show from January next year.'
Nugent added: 'Naga has just shared the news with the current presenters Rachel Burden and Rick Edwards.'
Munchetty revealed her exit while speaking with Radio 5 Live hosts Rachel Burden and Rick Edwards, both of whom will leave in December.
Munchetty on the New Challenge
'It is exciting news, it is exciting news. A change is... they say a change is as good as a rest, don't they?' Munchetty said on Tuesday morning.
'And I think Rachel, you put it really well. The audience we serve is brilliant and honest and kind and engaged, and here at 5 Live, I mean, I've been at 5 Live for, what, five years? And had the mid-morning show,' she continued.
'Obviously, as well on BBC Breakfast, and it's just time for a new challenge, and when things worked out, we kind of heard stuff, I think our controller put her hands together and thought, "Right, what can I conjure up?"'
'Both you, Rick, and Rachel, I feel an immense loyalty to our audience and have built an audience and an interest in the mid-mornings that I know Rachel will continue and be brilliant at. I hope to come in, and it's kind of all change, but not all change, because hopefully, familiar voices, familiar attitude - it will feel very consistent.'
Future Co-Presenter Under Wraps
The identity of Munchetty's future co-presenter remains unknown. The TV star suggested fans would find out in 'due time'.
BBC Breakfast has not announced Munchetty's replacement. She usually presents Thursdays to Saturdays with Charlie Stayt.
Munchetty's Statement

'Presenting a flagship programme on 5 Live is an opportunity that was simply too good to pass up. It will take a huge amount of work and require 100% of my focus and energy, and I'm really looking forward to throwing myself into the role.'
'Over the last five years, I've been privileged to build a relationship with 5 Live listeners on the mid-morning programme and help shine a light on the issues that matter most to them. I'm excited to build on that in the Breakfast slot and to start each day with our listeners every morning.'
'Between now and January, I'll continue presenting the two programmes I love. I'm sure there will be plenty of news to cover, and it will very much be business as usual.'
