BBC Breakfast viewers saw Sally Nugent reunite with her regular co-star Jon Kay live on air during Tuesday's programme (September 1), after he had been absent from his usual presenting role for several days.
Last week, Sally presented the show alongside Ben Thompson on the red sofa, but this week she was back with a familiar face as the show began.
Jon Kay's return after an Italian break
His absence was briefly mentioned during the show, with Sally highlighting that Jon had enjoyed a sunny holiday. On Instagram, Jon shared a photo of himself smiling with the turquoise sea behind him, telling followers he was 'rested, relaxed and raring to go'.
Jon explained he was heading back to the sofa after a 'blissful' week abroad in Italy with his family, adding that he was 'feeling very lucky' for the break. He also said he was 'looking forward' to a hectic autumn ahead with his 'brilliant' Breakfast cast and crew.
Viewers welcome back a 'top team'
Fans were quick to comment on his post, with many sharing their excitement at seeing Jon and Sally back together. One person said it would be 'good to see' the duo presenting together, while fans told Jon he was 'missed'. Another hoped the BBC star had a nice break, and one added: "Hope that first day back alarm isn't too painful!" A third wrote: "Your face looks relaxed, glad you had a lovely holiday, see you soon."
Another viewer called the duo a 'top team', while Sally playfully asked: "How much Limoncello exactly!?"
Morning Live returns after summer break
Jon wasn't the only familiar face back on screen this week, as Helen Skelton and Gethin Jones returned to Morning Live. The team had taken a break for the summer, with their last programme airing in July.
During Monday's show (August 31), Breakfast presenters Emma Vardy and Roger Johnson switched over to Helen and Gethin midway through the programme. Roger asked: "Have you had a nice summer break?" Gethin said it was 'alright' before sharing that they had 'missed' the BBC Breakfast team and how nice it was to be back with them all again.
Roger told Gethin it was 'lovely' to have them back, and Emma joked that Gethin and Helen needed to 'dust off' the sofa as it hadn't been in use for the past few weeks. Gethin played along, feigning dusting off the sofa while Helen let out a cough.
During their time away, Helen Skelton was busy filming a new series of her BBC show Lost and Found in the Lakes, sharing glimpses on Instagram. Calling the programme an 'absolute gem', Helen said the show was 'made by some of the nicest and most dedicated people you could wish to meet.'
