Sally Dynevor marks 40 Corrie years, wants Rosie and Sophie back

Sally Dynevor, who has played Sally Metcalfe on Coronation Street since 1986, has marked 40 years on the ITV soap by suggesting her character could take on a new career in politics and work alongside Andy Burnham.

The actress has become one of the soap's best-loved stars, with viewers following her character through marriage, heartbreak, family dramas and some of Weatherfield's biggest storylines.

A Political Future for Sally Metcalfe

Sally has set her sights on a different future for her alter ego, suggesting she could take her political ambitions further after her campaign to become Mayor of Weatherfield.

"Sally should go into Parliament, she should write a letter to Andy Burnham and say she wants to work at Number 10 North," she said.

"I really loved doing Sally's political campaign video, so that'd be a really good story. Let's bring Sally back as an MP for Andy Burnham."

Wishing for Rosie and Sophie's Return

Away from politics, the actress admitted there are two familiar faces she would love to see back on the Street – Sally's daughters Rosie and Sophie Webster.

"I really miss Rosie and Sophie! I just wish they'd come back for one Christmas, to spend it with their mum and their stepdad. And their dad!" she said.

Reflecting on Four Decades

Reflecting on four decades with the soap, Sally admitted the milestone feels difficult to believe.

"It's very strange because I don't feel like I've been here that long. It's gone so quickly, life goes so quickly," she said.

"I've grown up here with the cameramen, the makeup girls, the cast, we've all had children and they've grown up as well."

She added: "I'm so proud, it's emotional because we've lost some people, some have passed away or moved on and it's just wonderful to see them all. It's been amazing and it's great to be a part of."

There could be another Dynevor joining the cast one day, with Sally revealing her youngest daughter Hattie would love to appear on Corrie. "My youngest would absolutely love to be on Coronation Street," she said.
