Sadie Sink, the celebrated star of Netflix's Stranger Things, has finally broken her silence on the rampant speculation surrounding her top-secret role in the upcoming Marvel blockbuster, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. With Tom Holland confirmed to return as the friendly neighbourhood web-slinger, the mystery of who Sink will portray has become a major point of discussion amongst fans.
The Cryptic Clue That Started It All
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Sink directly engaged with the popular fan theories, many of which suggest she will play a character with her own signature red hair. Her response was a deliberately enigmatic four-word statement: "hair colour can change." This simple yet loaded comment has sent the rumour mill into overdrive, with many interpreting it as a hint that she could be playing the blonde-haired Gwen Stacy.
This theory holds significant weight as Peter Parker's previous love interest, MJ, played by Zendaya, had her memory wiped in the last film, leaving a narrative opening for a new character like Gwen. However, Sink also acknowledged the long-standing fan campaign to see her as the powerful telepath Jean Grey from the X-Men, a rumour that, she revealed, "was happening before I even knew that I would be working on this project."
