Sadie Sink says Spider-Man spoilers ‘even more secretive’ than Stranger Things finale

Actress Sadie Sink has revealed that keeping secrets about the final season of Stranger Things was relatively easy given the “even more secretive” plot details she is holding for her upcoming role in the Spider-Man franchise.

Sink, who plays Max Mayfield in the Netflix sci-fi series, joined the show in its second season. The fifth and final season’s penultimate volume was released on 26 December, with the finale set for New Year’s Eve. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, she said she was relieved to no longer have to guard those secrets: “It’ll be nice once it’s all finally out there and I never have to keep a secret about Stranger Things again.”

Her casting in the fourth Spider-Man film, Brand New Day, opposite Tom Holland, was first reported in March. Sink described the experience as “amazing” and noted that keeping Stranger Things secrets was easy because she has “so many Spider-Man secrets” that feel “even more secretive”. She also called joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe a “full-circle moment”, having been a fan of the franchise and having previously worked with director Dustin Daniel Kretten.

Fan speculation about her role has been rife, with theories based on her red hair glimpsed under a bulky coat on set. Sink told Entertainment Weekly that while hair colour can change, people will have to “wait and see”. In addition to her Marvel work, Sink will make her West End debut in London next spring in Robert Icke’s production of Romeo & Juliet opposite Noah Jupe.
