Run Away, the eight-part thriller from Harlan Coben, landed on Netflix on New Year's Day and quickly topped the streaming charts. The series follows Simon Greene (James Nesbitt) as he searches for his runaway daughter Paige (Ellie de Lange), only to find her six months later as a homeless drug addict.
The plot thickens when Simon confronts cult members Dee Dee (Maeve Courtier-Lilley) and Ash (Jon Pointing), leading to Ash's death and Dee Dee being thrown off a balcony by Mother Adiona, a cult member who opposed the killings. Police arrest cult leader Casper Vartage, who had fathered numerous children, including Aaron, and gave them up for adoption. When Aaron discovered his half-brothers and contacted them, Casper ordered Dee Dee and Ash to murder them.
In the finale, Simon learns from Paige that she found Aaron dead at their flat and fled to rehab, fearing she'd be implicated. She later realises that Ingrid (Minnie Driver) killed Aaron to protect her. When Ingrid emerges from a coma, she confesses to Simon, saying she wanted to shield him. Despite the passage of time, something still troubles Simon.
