Rookie Fans Urged to Binge Spielberg's High Incident

Fans of The Rookie and Yellowstone are being encouraged to make Steven Spielberg's 1990s police procedural High Incident their next binge-watch.

The Rookie season nine is currently airing, following Nathan Fillion's John Nolan, who became an LAPD officer in his 40s. High Incident, which ran for two seasons, has a similar premise, tracking the early career of rookie officer Randy Willitz in the fictional El Camino Police Department.

The drama showed Randy being trained by his superiors and responding to crimes as he navigated his new career.

Spielberg and Bogosian Behind the Show

What sets High Incident apart is that Spielberg, known for Band of Brothers, created the show with Law and Order actor Eric Bogosian.

The series stars Yellowstone actor Cole Hauser as Randy Willitz, though he is almost unrecognisable. Fans are used to seeing Hauser with a beard and cowboy hat, but in High Incident, he is clean-shaven and in a police uniform.

Fan Praise for the Series

Despite running for only two seasons, the show has received high praise over the years. One viewer stated: “I was a cop for 10 years, and High Incident is the greatest cop show I have ever seen. It captured the true emotion, tension, fast pace and sheer panic of police work better than anything I have ever seen.”

Another added: “This show was beautiful in every way. It was powerful, emotional, touching, and just great writing and filled with great actors.”

A third wrote: “This will always be one of my favorite shows. I only wished I could have seen more than two seasons worth of this masterpiece.” A fourth called it “The best and most realistic show to ever cross the television show threshold”, hailing it the “greatest show on Earth”.

High Incident is available to watch on YouTube.
