Robson Green has announced that filming has wrapped on his new BBC crime drama, The Northumbria Mysteries, teasing fans to "watch this space". The Grantchester star shared a clapperboard image on social media, confirming production had concluded.
A Joyous Filming Experience
In his post, Green described the project as "one of the most Joyous filming experiences of my career". He wrote: "That's a WIND REEL AND PRINT (WRAP) on The Northumbria Mysteries. One of the most Joyous filming experiences of my career. What a story what a team! Transmission TBC. A series for all the family set against the magical and jaw dropping backdrop of Northumberland. Watch this space."
Fans quickly responded with enthusiasm. One commented: "I'm looking forward to this coming out. In the meantime we have the last series of Grantchester to look forward to." Another wrote: "This is going to be a good one looking forward to seeing it." A fifth added: "My fellow Grantchester ladies (and gentlemen) on Facebook will be chuffed to bits about this news!"
New Role and Setting
Green plays Joe Ruby, a jack-of-all-trades who forms an unlikely crime-solving duo with DI Rose O'Connell, portrayed by Liz White. The series is set in Northumberland, where Green was raised, and he previously expressed happiness at working in a place he is "very proud to call home".
Speaking about the show, Green told the BBC: "Set against this amazing backdrop, you have this really unusual, likeable and oddball pairing, who slowly realise they have a connection." Lesley Douglas, Executive Producer and co-founder of Lonesome Pine Productions, added: "We could not be happier to have Robson Green lead the cast and bring Joe Ruby to life, within the magnificent backdrop of Northumberland. Working with the BBC to realise these characters has been a labour of love."
