ITV viewers tuning into legal thriller The Rainmaker may be surprised to learn where the Charleston-set series was actually filmed. The show, which airs on ITV on Friday 28 August at 9pm, was primarily shot in Dublin, Ireland, with only a few brief shots captured in Charleston, South Carolina.
The broadcaster acquired the star-studded US series, which will air weekly and also be available to stream on ITVX. A synopsis for the legal thriller teases: "Based on the best-selling novel by John Grisham, Rudy Baylor, who is fresh out of law school, goes head-to-head with courtroom lion Leo Drummond as well as his law school girlfriend, Sarah."
"Rudy, along with his boss, Bruiser, and her disheveled paralegal, Deck, uncover two connected conspiracies surrounding the mysterious death of their client's son."
Cast on filming in Dublin
Bodkin's Robyn Cara, who plays Kelly Riker in the series, previously told Brit + Co about filming in Dublin, Ireland: "There was some sea swimming!"
"So, we were filming in Dublin and I had filmed there before already. So I was like, 'Guys, you have to try this.' So I got a lot of people to try sea swimming and it is like freezing, but people love it. So yeah, that was fun!"
To which P.J. Byrne, who plays Deck Shifflet, joked: "I got my feet in, not my whole body! I am not a polar bear, I live in Los Angeles!"
Star-studded cast and renewal
The cast includes Rivals actor Milo Callaghan as Rudy Baylor, Mad Men legend John Slattery as Leo Drummond, Once Upon a Time's Lana Parrilla as Jocelyn "Bruiser" Stone and Jumanji star Madison Iseman as Sarah Plankmore.
Other cast members include The Wolf of Wall Street actor P.J. Byrne as Deck Shifflet, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them star Dan Fogler as Melvin Pritcher, Bodkin's Robyn Cara as Kelly Riker and The Split's Karen Bryson as Dot Black.
The Rainmaker was first released in the US in 2025, receiving rave reviews at the time. The show has been confirmed and renewed for a second series. The Rainmaker is available to watch on ITV and ITVX from Friday 28 August.
