The BBC has confirmed that Tyler West will take over as presenter of the Race Across the World video podcast, following the dismissal of Scott Mills from the broadcaster.
West, a television presenter and DJ who took part in the celebrity edition of the show last year, will host Race Across the World: The Detour alongside series four champion Alfie Watts. The weekly video podcast is described as the TV show's "younger, wilder sibling", offering travel tips and behind-the-scenes insights.
The podcast will be available on BBC iPlayer and BBC Sounds immediately after each new episode of the series airs, starting tonight (2 April). The first episode will feature guests Kola Bokinni and Molly Rainford, with Yinka Bokinni appearing in a bonus episode on BBC Sounds.
Scott Mills had originally been scheduled to host the podcast, but his contract with the BBC was terminated following a 2016 police investigation into historic sexual offences. Mills was interviewed under caution but the case was dropped due to insufficient evidence. In a statement, Mills confirmed the allegation and said he had fully cooperated with the investigation, adding that he hoped the public and media would respect his wish not to comment further.
The BBC has not commented further on the matter.
