Practical Magic 2: Bullock and Kidman Return for Spooky Sequel

The witches are officially back. The first official teaser for Practical Magic 2 has been released, featuring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman reprising their roles as the Owens sisters Sally and Gillian. The trailer quickly surged into Google Trends' top 10 within 24 hours, signalling strong anticipation for the sequel.

Joining the original stars are Joey King and Maisie Williams, who will play Sally's grown daughters Kylie and Antonia. Lee Pace has also been cast as a scholar named Harlan Vex. The sequel builds on the family curse storyline, with Gillian noting in the trailer that the curse isn't great for a Tinder bio.

Director Susanne Bier, who previously worked with Bullock on Bird Box, suggests the sequel will lean into a more moody aesthetic. However, the use of Harry Nilsson's song Coconut in the trailer hints at nods to the original's memorable kitchen dance. Kidman confirmed to Jimmy Fallon that the margaritas would be making a comeback.

Bullock made her Instagram debut on Monday with a playful video of a magically appearing margarita to launch the trailer. The sequel arrives as the revival of Buffy the Vampire Slayer was cancelled and the Harry Potter HBO series prepares for a late 2026 or early 2027 launch.
