Manchester City's Phil Foden visited the viral food spot SpudBros during their pop-up at the Trafford Centre, becoming the last customer of the day on Tuesday (August 25).
Foden's First Visit
The famous SpudBros tram has returned to the shopping mall for the final week of the school summer holidays, after its first pop-up sparked huge queues back in July. Members of staff said they almost flagged the player down earlier in the day to ask him to come and try the food, but spotted he was already eating.
Foden later returned to the spot just in time for his tea to order one of the famous Spuds. Taking to social media, SpudBros posted a picture of the City forward with his order saying: “Thank you Manchester for Day 2! We’ve just served our last customer…what a day.”
The Recommended Order
In a new video posted on their social media, the midfielder's order has been revealed. It was the 26-year-old's first time at the food spot, saying he'd been “dying to try it.” Unfortunately for Foden, the truck had run out of garlic chicken, so in a twist, the footballer asked for something that the staff would recommend. This was made easier for workers when he declared that he 'likes everything'.
The Stockport-born player ended up getting cheese, beans, tuna and home-made coleslaw, topped with crispy onions as the recommended order, to which Foden said he liked the sound of that.
Social Media Fame and Free Order
The SpudBros account is the UK's most followed jacket potato account, and when asked if the City player had seen the food truck on social media, he responded: “I’ve seen it yeah, everyone’s seen it haven’t they?” Chatting in the background, Foden's long-term partner, Rebecca, asked the workers if the truck could be hired for events, an idea he seemed keen on. He was also accompanied by his son, Ronnie, who was dressed in a full Manchester City kit and was seen waving at the camera enthusiastically throughout the video.
As the first and last customer of the day gets their order for free, Foden didn't have to pay for his order. In the video he is told: “I’ve spoke to the boys and they’ve told me to give you this on them.”
Pop-Up Details
Earlier this week, one customer waited 15 hours for his chance to get a taste of the viral jacket potatoes. The opening day saw Sami, who was officially first in the queue, win a surprise widescreen TV along with his free spud.
Visitors can get their hands on the large spuds priced at £6 plain, and then toppings for between £1 - £2.50 extra including beans, cheese, garlic chicken and their famous spicy tram sauce and crispy onions. The truck will open on those days from 12noon to 8pm daily. Returning as part of Trafford Centre's summer programme, the pop-up is located right next to the popular summer fair which is also open for the rest of the week. Visitors are being reminded that the SpudBros pop-up must close at 8pm each night - and so queues will be stopped before then to avoid disappointment.
