Marvel Studios has announced the cast for its upcoming Fantastic Four reboot, with Pedro Pascal set to star as Reed Richards, also known as Mr Fantastic. The Last of Us actor will be joined by The Bear's Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (The Thing), Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (The Invisible Woman) and Joseph Quinn, of Stranger Things fame, as Johnny Storm (The Human Torch).
Victor von Doom, the franchise's primary supervillain, has not yet been cast. Julian McMahon played the role in the 2005 film adaptation. The new movie will be the first time the Fantastic Four have been integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), after Disney acquired the rights from Fox in 2019.
Directed by Matt Shakman, known for WandaVision, the film has been given a new release date of 25 July 2025, having previously been scheduled for 2 May 2025. The announcement was made via Disney's Instagram on 14 February.
The original Fantastic Four comics were created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. The first film adaptation in 2005 starred Ioan Gruffudd, Michael Chiklis, Jessica Alba and Chris Evans. That film and its 2007 sequel were produced by 20th Century Fox before the merger with Disney.
