Netflix viewers are bracing for an emotional final season of Outer Banks after the release of the full trailer for season five. The teen adventure series returns in August for its fifth and final season, following the death of JJ (Rudy Pankow) in the season four finale, murdered by his biological father Chandler Groff (J Anthony Crane).

The trailer shows the remaining Pogues facing the aftermath of their loss, now outcasts with their home destroyed. Kiara Carrera (Madison Bailey) is determined not to let Groff win, and together the Pogues embark on one last adventure to reclaim The Blue Crown, which legend says can bring back the dead.
Fans took to the comments section in droves, all expressing that they are not ready for the series to end. One fan said: "Can’t believe it’s ending." Another added: "I’m not ready for it to end. The Pogues will always have a special place in my heart," while a third echoed: "Awhhh I can’t believe this is ending I remember waiting for season 2." On X, one fan wrote: "I'm not emotionally prepared for this," while another shared: "I am NOT ready for the final season, but I also need it right now."
Pregnancy Confusion Explained
Many viewers also noticed something peculiar: at the end of season four, Sarah Cameron (Madelyn Cline) was pregnant with John B's (Chase Stokes) baby, but in the trailer she did not appear to be carrying a child. Confused fans took to YouTube comments. One asked: "So I’m confused! What happened to Sarah’s baby!?" Another said: "Girl where’s the damn baby though." A third commented: "Sara is not having this baby bro she’s over here falling off cliffs and s***." Another concluded: "Sarah was pregnant last season right?"
Madelyn Cline addressed the confusion in a Variety interview, explaining she would not wear a prosthetic baby bump as the time jump between seasons was not significant. She said: "Well, I’m not wearing a baby bump. Everyone’s like, 'Where’s the baby?' I don’t know. I’m not jumping over walls and getting thrown off the back of boats and sprinting at full speed away from bad guys in a silicone baby bump. When I said yes to this storyline, that was my one stipulation: 'Please don’t do that to me in the South Carolina summer heat'. Most of July, the heat index was 100-116."
