Olivia Colman's Surprise The Crown Confession in Netflix Release

Olivia Colman has revealed that she initially resisted watching The Crown, despite its widespread popularity. The 52-year-old actress confessed, “My experience with The Crown, I think when it first came out it was so widely advertised it sort of made the rebellious side of me go, ‘I’m not watching that because everyone’s making me watch it.’”

However, after giving in, she admitted, “And then I watched it and loved it.” Colman, known for her roles in Broadchurch and The Favourite, went on to play Queen Elizabeth II in seasons three and four of the acclaimed series, earning her a Primetime Emmy and a Golden Globe. She also reprised the role in a single scene in the sixth and final season, alongside fellow Queen Elizabeth II actresses Claire Foy and Imelda Staunton.

Behind-the-Scenes Revelations

Sharing details from the set, Colman said, “Whenever we had scenes when the whole pretend Royal Family were together we just had a ball. So I’ve been paid to go and have a giggle everyday. It was lovely.” She also expressed her obsession with the reality series Married at First Sight.

Colman made these comments during the 2023 edition of Vogue’s The Ultimate British Taste Test, which has recently been added to Netflix. In the episode, she was blindfolded while sampling British dishes, including fish and chips, a Sunday roast, Scotch eggs, and sticky toffee pudding, which she named her favourite dessert.

Netflix's Culture Edit

At the start of the video, Colman demonstrated her beer-pouring skills at a pub. Other episodes feature Florence Pugh, Emma Watson, and Nicola Coughlan. The Ultimate British Taste Test is part of Netflix’s The Culture Edit, which includes short-form videos under 20 minutes, such as Architectural Digest’s Open Door, Vanity Fair’s Lie Detector Test, and Buzzfeed’s Homebodies. Vogue’s Ultimate British Taste Test is now streaming on Netflix.
