Casualty's 40th Year Welcomes Vera & Death in Paradise Stars to BBC Drama
New Faces Join BBC's Casualty for Milestone Series

The long-running BBC medical drama Casualty is injecting fresh talent into its Emergency Department for its landmark 40th year. Two new actors are joining the cast, bringing their characters to the high-pressure world of the Holby City hospital.

Meet the New Residents of the ED

The BBC has confirmed that Jasmine Beyes, known for her role in the hit ITV series Vera, will be stepping into the shoes of Dr. Kim, described as a hesitant yet highly competent new doctor. Alongside her, Aron Julius, who fans will recognise from Death in Paradise, arrives as the charming Dr. Matty Linlaker.

Both newcomers will face immediate challenges as they navigate the relentless pace and complex cases of the ED. Their arrival coincides with a turbulent time for the hospital, setting the stage for intense personal and professional drama.

What the Stars Have Said

Jasmine Beyes expressed her excitement about joining the iconic series, stating: "I am delighted to be joining the ED alongside Aron for Casualty's 40th year." She hinted at a rocky road ahead for her character, adding, "The journey Kim goes on is far from simple, and I hope audiences are prepared to follow her into some troubled waters."

Aron Julius shared his enthusiasm, saying: "I am absolutely buzzing to be joining Casualty as Dr Matty Linlaker. It's a dream job - fast, fun and full of heart - and I can't wait for audiences to meet him. Saturday nights just got a little more chaotic."

High Stakes in the New Series

The upcoming series, comprising 12 episodes, promises significant upheaval. The official synopsis reveals the Emergency Department is overwhelmed and under scrutiny from the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Senior staff Flynn (Olly Rix) and Siobhan (Melanie Hill) must work to unite a fracturing team.

Viewers will also see existing relationships tested. Faith (Kirsty Mitchell) and Iain (Michael Stevenson) confront a new challenge, while the romance between Cam (Barney Walsh) and Indie (Naomi Wakszlak) intensifies. The central question posed is whether the two new doctors will adapt or falter under the immense pressure.

How and When to Watch

The new series of Casualty begins on Saturday, January 10. Episodes will be available to stream from 6am on BBC iPlayer, with the traditional broadcast scheduled for 8.45pm on BBC One. The series continues to feature returning favourites including Will Beck, Olly Rix, and Kirsty Mitchell.
