Netflix's Wayward Drops Chilling First Trailer

Netflix has released the official trailer for its new eight-part drama, Wayward, offering a first look at the chilling series. The two-minute teaser introduces viewers to the seemingly picture-perfect town of Tall Pines, where police officer Alex Dempsey, played by Mae Martin, moves with his pregnant partner Laura (Sarah Gadon).

The plot thickens when Alex meets two teenagers, Abbie (Sydney Topliffe) and Leila (Alyvia Alyn Lind), who are desperate to escape a local school for troubled teens. Alex begins to suspect that something sinister is happening at the school, and his investigation points to Evelyn (Toni Collette), the mysterious leader at the centre of it all.

According to the official synopsis, Wayward is a 'genre-bending limited series about the eternal struggle between one generation and the next, what happens when friendship and loyalty are put to the ultimate test, and how buried truths always find a way of coming to the surface.' Toni Collette brings a bone-chilling performance as Evelyn Wade, the lead youth counsellor at Tall Pines Academy, who claims to use 'ground-breaking therapeutic techniques' to cure the 'problem' of adolescence.
