Netflix's Hostage: UK Filming Locations Revealed

The new Netflix thriller series Hostage, starring Suranne Jones as fictional British Prime Minister Abigail Dalton, was filmed across several UK and international locations. The five-part series follows Dalton as she faces a crisis when her husband, a doctor working abroad, is kidnapped. She must choose between resigning or his death.

Most of the action is set in and around 10 Downing Street in London. However, the production team was unable to film at the real location. Instead, they built a replica from scratch on an abandoned airfield, using Google Maps to measure the building's dimensions. Set designers Arwel Jones and Laura Mayall even counted bricks to ensure accuracy, constructing the set up to the first-floor windows.

Interior shots of 10 Downing Street were filmed at Langleybury House in Kings Langley, Hertfordshire. The team had planned to shoot in the real House of Commons but had to abandon that plan due to the recent change in government. They built a set for Prime Minister's Questions instead.

Scenes set in French Guiana, where the kidnapped doctor is working with Médecins Sans Frontières, were actually filmed in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, Spain. A Spanish crew constructed the ramshackle building where the hostages were held. Director Isabelle Sieb noted logistical challenges, including a car chase on the island's small roads, which required quick thinking and compromises.
