David Tennant and Michael Sheen's Staged lands new UK streaming home on Prime Video

David Tennant and Michael Sheen's lockdown series Staged has found a new streaming home for fans in the UK. Season 1 of the show is now available on Prime Video, while all three seasons and the Christmas special remain on BBC iPlayer.

Released in 2020, the first season sees the Good Omens stars play fictionalised versions of themselves. As their West End play is put on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the two actors are convinced to rehearse Luigi Pirandello's Six Characters in Search of an Author online via teleconference, with a series of guest stars making appearances.

Created by Simon Evans and Phin Glynn, the series also stars Evans in the uncredited role of Simon, the director of the play who pushes for rehearsals to continue online but struggles to keep control. Co-stars include Georgia Tennant, Anna Lundberg and Lucy Eaton, with guest stars such as Samuel L Jackson, Judi Dench, Nina Sosanya and Adrian Lester appearing in season 1.

Filmed using primarily teleconference apps, Staged has a 93% critics' approval on Rotten Tomatoes out of 15 reviews. The series has been hailed as "hilarious, endearing and all very resonant", with the Los Angeles Times finding it especially relatable for people who work from home. New Statesman noted that while feeling "a bit, well, staged", the series "is nevertheless charming: absurdly silly in a quiet, understated way".
