Netflix has confirmed that every episode of The Walking Dead and all six spin-off series will be added to its UK library, starting in 2027. The multi-year global licensing agreement with AMC Global Media gives Netflix co-exclusive streaming rights to the original show and the entire franchise universe.
At the moment, UK viewers can watch the original series on Disney+, Prime Video and NOW, while the spin-offs are spread across different platforms. That is set to change in 2027, though an exact release date has not been announced.
A long-awaited arrival
The Walking Dead has been available on Netflix in the United States since 2011, but UK subscribers have had to use other services. The new deal extends Netflix availability to new territories including the UK, Italy, Australia and New Zealand.
From 2027, the six spin-offs arriving on UK Netflix are Fear the Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, The Walking Dead: Dead City, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, The Walking Dead: World Beyond and Tales of The Walking Dead. In total, this includes 371 episodes across all seasons and series.
'Phenomenal' franchise
Kristin Dolan, CEO of AMC Global Media, said: “This deal creates a global destination for this universe — all shows, all episodes — making the franchise more accessible than ever to fans around the world."
The Walking Dead is an adaptation of the comic book series by Robert Kirkman. It portrays life in the months and years after a zombie apocalypse, following a group of survivors who travel in search of safety and a secure home. The constant pressure to stay alive drives some to the depths of human cruelty, and they discover that the fear survivors have of each other can be more deadly than the zombies.
The show originally aired between 2010 and 2022 across 11 seasons and became a worldwide hit. Many fans regard it as one of the best shows ever made for television. The Walking Dead is currently streaming on Disney+, Prime Video and NOW, and coming soon to Netflix.
