Netflix reverses course on Beauty in Black
Streaming giant Netflix has made a surprising U-turn on the Tyler Perry drama Beauty in Black, renewing it for a fourth season after previously announcing the third would be the final run.
In December, Netflix had stated the show would end after three seasons. However, ahead of its Season 3 premiere, the drama has been given the green light for another series.
Fans react to the renewal
Fans took to X, formerly Twitter, to express shock over the news. One said: “Waitttt we back?! I thought Season 3 was going to be the series finale? Oh yes.” Another added: “Oh wait gtfu they done added another season that’s what I’m talking about Beauty in Black.”
A third shared: “Wait, I thought they were ending the show???” While others felt the show should end with Season 3, with one saying: “We had a good show, can you please let it rest?” Another added: “Wrap it up already!” And a third shared: “My god, why. Y'all need to stop with this bs.”
Perry announces Season 4
“Beauty in Black is back for Season 4, and the Bellarie family’s story is far from finished,” Perry announced. “There was so much more I wanted to explore, and I’m grateful I get to keep telling this story. To the audience that has been on this ride with us from Day 1, thank you for watching and sharing it with the world. More episodes are on the way!”
The highly anticipated Season 2 spent six weeks in the Global Top 10. The series follows two young women from opposite sides of the tracks who cross paths—a stripper and a successful businesswoman whose worlds unexpectedly collide.
Season 3 plot teased
Season 3, which is yet to get a release date, will see Kimmie (Taylor Polidore Williams) finally have a seat at the Bellarie table. Deadline teased: “But when a deadly family feud erupts, she’s forced into an uneasy alliance with Mallory (Crystle Stewart). Together, they navigate a ruthless world of blackmail, revenge, and buried secrets as the family wages war against one of its own, threatening to bring the entire empire crashing down.”
One fan took to IMDb reviews to call the show a “masterpiece,” explaining: “Ultimately, Beauty in Black is more than sensational television. It is a meditation on power, corruption, survival, and the fragile possibility of redemption. Perry proves once again that he is not just an entertainer but a cultural storyteller who knows how to move hearts as much as he stirs conversation.”
Beauty in Black is on Netflix.
