Netflix subscribers have been captivated by an ITV crime drama that has drawn comparisons to Broadchurch. The two-part psychological thriller centres on the disappearance of a schoolgirl, who is later found fatally stabbed. The crime shakes a close-knit community, but one mother begins to suspect her own son's involvement.
The teenager starts acting strangely, lies about his whereabouts on the night of the murder, and his mother discovers a pair of blood-stained trainers hidden away. She is confronted with a painful moral dilemma: report her son to the police or protect him by concealing the truth.
Star-Studded Cast and Creator
Originally broadcast in 2012, A Mother's Son features a host of familiar British actors. Hermione Norris, known for Cold Feet, plays Rosie, the mother who fears the worst. Martin Clunes, star of Doc Martin, appears as her husband Ben, while Unforgotten's Nicola Walker takes on the role of DS Sue Upton, the detective investigating the murder.
The series was created by Chris Lang, the same writer behind Unforgotten, adding another link to the acclaimed drama.
