Ryan Moloney, who has played Jarrod 'Toadie' Rebecchi on Neighbours for nearly three decades, has confirmed his departure from the soap. The 44-year-old actor revealed on ITV's Good Morning Britain that he 'wanted to leave' and is looking forward to new adventures.
Moloney spoke about the show's upcoming 'Death in the Outback' special week, hinting that his character's exit could be fatal. However, he remained philosophical, saying: 'It's a soap, so we've got to do these things.' He expressed excitement about what lies ahead, noting that acting has been his life since he was 15.
While the decision to leave was partly his own, Moloney admitted it was difficult to walk away from a stable job with 'awesome people' and good pay. He shared his mixed feelings, saying: 'If you had a mate who had one of these jobs, you'd be saying, "mate, what are you doing?"'
Looking to the future, Moloney is open to opportunities, particularly in directing, which has reignited his passion. However, he also revealed a simpler ambition: 'I'm actually really quite happy building farm fences and playing with animals and spending time with the kids. So if I never get employed and I do that again, then happy days!'
