Naga Munchetty was missing from BBC Breakfast, with no reason given for her absence. Her usual co-presenter Charlie Stayt was joined by stand-in host Sarah Campbell, leading some viewers to wonder if she might eventually take over permanently.
Viewers react on social media
Fans took to social media to share their thoughts. One tweeted: "I think Sarah may replace Naga." Another asked: "Anyone know where Naga has gone on #BBCBreakfast?" Some speculated she might be on holiday, though she has not posted on social media since her disappearance from the show.
Naga's upcoming departure
Last month, Naga revealed she will be leaving Breakfast to front the Radio 5 Live morning programme instead. In a statement, she said: "It has been a privilege to be part of the BBC Breakfast TV team for the past 17 years, working alongside an incredibly talented and hard-working group of journalists who are not only outstanding colleagues but also great friends."
She described the new role as an opportunity "simply too good to pass up" and said she is "throwing herself into the role." She added: "It will take a huge amount of work and require 100% of my focus and energy, and I'm really looking forward to throwing myself into the role."
Business as usual until January
Naga signed off by saying: "Between now and January, I'll continue presenting the two programmes I love. I'm sure there will be plenty of news to cover, and it will very much be business as usual."
