Netflix's new period drama My Brilliant Career has a cast full of familiar faces, including a BAFTA-nominated Slow Horses star who looks very different in the show.
The Australian series, now streaming on Netflix, is adapted from Miles Franklin's classic 1901 novel of the same name. It follows a previous 1979 film adaptation starring Sam Neill and Judy Davis.

Former Home and Away star Philippa Northeast leads the cast as Sybylla, a young woman fighting society's expectations to become a published author. Northeast is also known for The Newsreader, Territory, Paper Dolls, and Standing Up for Sunny.
Christopher Chung, recognised for roles in BBC's Waterloo Road and Apple TV's Slow Horses — the latter earning him a BAFTA TV nomination — plays the romantic lead Harry.

Genevieve O'Reilly, of Andor, Tin Star, and The Dry fame, appears as Aunt Helen. Kate Mulvany, who has featured in Hungers, The Twelve, Elvis, The Great Gatsby, The Clearing, and The Artful Dodger, plays the eccentric Augusta.
Jake Dunn, from What It Feels Like For a Girl and Ballad of Renegade Nell, plays Frank, a potential suitor. Alexander England, seen in Black Snow, The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, and Small Town Scandal, plays Uncle Julius.
