A critically acclaimed murder mystery described as perfect for Agatha Christie fans is now available to watch for free on Channel 4. The series, titled 'This Is Not A Murder Mystery', is a Belgian English-language crime drama set in 1930s England.
The show follows a group of young Surrealist artists, including Salvador Dali and Rene Magritte, who become trapped in a lavish country estate with a serial killer on the loose. The cast features Pierre Gervais as Magritte, Inaki Mur as Dali, Florence Hall as Lee Miller, Frank Rourke as Man Ray and Mike Hoffman as Max Ernst.
Viewers have praised the series as a 'delightful and stylish twist on the classic whodunit', with one calling it 'a must-watch'. Another fan remarked: 'I’m so glad Agatha Christie-ish stories has taken ahold of media for now. It’s such a fun genre.' The show originally aired last year and has been hailed for its unique blend of surrealism and suspense.
Producers Kristoffel Mertens and Elly Vervloet told Variety that the idea initially seemed too ambitious. 'It started as the typical cliché idea that goes around in production companies,' Mertens said. 'Yet for this one, it remained with us... it turned out to be one of the biggest shows ever made in Flanders.'
'This Is Not A Murder Mystery' is available to stream now on Channel 4.
