Prime Video has unveiled the first trailer for 'The Greatest,' the first authorised scripted series about boxing legend Muhammad Ali, confirming a November 4 release date. The eight-episode series stars Jaalen Best as Ali, with Omari Hardwick playing his father, Cassius Marcellus Clay Sr.
First Look and Trailer
The trailer shows Best as a young Cassius Clay delivering self-affirmations before a mirror. The series is executive produced by Ali's widow, Lonnie Ali, and Oscar winner Michael B. Jordan. It chronicles Ali's life from his youth through his athletic achievements, including his civil rights activism and friendship with Malcolm X.
Cast and Production
Alongside Best, the cast includes Dana Gourrier, Amin Joseph, Kai Parham, and Michael Ealy. Hardwick shared the trailer on Instagram, writing: 'Before there was Ali, there was Clay. Here's the first teaser for THE GREATEST, a new original series coming to Prime November 4.'
Legacy of Muhammad Ali
Ali died in 2016 at age 74 from respiratory illness complicated by Parkinson's disease. Prime Video's synopsis describes the series as 'an intimate exploration of the incomparable life of the boxing champion, humanitarian and global icon.'
