An eagle-eyed fan has pointed out an editing mistake in the trailer for The Devil Wears Prada 2, which was released on Tuesday. In a shot of Anne Hathaway's character Andrea Sachs striding at a crosswalk, a woman can be seen leaning out of a taxi window behind her, filming the star on her phone.
Social media users were quick to comment on the error, with one writing on X: 'This girl having her phone just wide out the window in the trailer is frying me.' Others were more forgiving, suggesting the flub could fit within the film's New York City setting, with one joking that the woman might have been cast in the 'role of paparazzi'.
This is not the only eyebrow-raising moment in the trailer. Some fans have noted a shot that appears to feature an internet meme of Meryl Streep's character Miranda Priestly from the original film, which would not logically exist within the movie's universe.
The sequel, set in New York, sees Hathaway's Andrea once again encountering formidable magazine editor Miranda Priestly, played by Streep. Returning cast members include Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt, while newcomers Kenneth Branagh, Lucy Liu and Simone Ashley join the franchise. Lady Gaga has also been spotted on set, and a live television slip-up by Jenna Bush Hager's co-anchor Craig Melvin hinted at her cameo.
Adrian Grenier, who played Andrea's boyfriend Nate in the original, has been notably absent from the sequel, which he believes is due to the widespread dislike of his character.
