Dave confirms news on Instagram

Along with the programme announcement, Dave confirmed it on Instagram, telling his followers he had 'some TV news'. Calling the Morning Live team 'wonderful', he told people his new role was their finance and business expert. He then explained how viewers can contact him and his team if they have a query they'd like addressed on Morning Live.

The post quickly attracted numerous comments, with many delighted about his addition to the popular programme. Morning Live star Justine Jones called the news 'brilliant' before welcoming Dave to the team. Fellow BBC presenter Marc Cananur said it was going to be 'great to work with you again'. One follower called the announcement 'great', stating that Dave was going to be a 'fab addition' to the Morning Live family, while another welcomed him to the programme, saying the news was 'wonderful'.

Presenters return after summer hiatus

His appointment was announced during Monday's episode, marking the return of Gethin and Helen. On Instagram, before going live following their summer hiatus, one of them revealed they were feeling under the weather. In a video clip, Gethin could be heard coughing as he said he was 'slightly poorly', turning his back to Helen in an attempt to shield her from his germs.

He told followers it was 'nice to be back with the team' as they outlined what topics they'd be covering on the show, including scams, heart palpitations and a feature on dog food. Helen mentioned that one item focused on parking tickets, as she joked anyone who got one would be a 'fool' as Gethin cheekily asked how many she'd accumulated over the summer. Although Helen failed to respond, looking away as he held four fingers up to expose her to viewers, she pulled a face and held up five fingers behind Gethin's back, revealing she'd gotten more than he realised.

They wrapped up the clip with Gethin saying he was looking forward to seeing viewers again, as Helen told him to 'stay over there' with his cough. Fans were overjoyed at their return after several weeks off air, flooding social media with messages of excitement and warm praise. One devoted viewer declared they were 'excited to watch' them once again as another commented it was 'great' to see the duo together. Morning Live is available to watch on BBC One weekdays from 9:30am.
