Country singer Morgan Wallen has addressed the recent Coldplay kiss cam scandal during his own concert in Glendale, Arizona, telling fans they are 'safe' with their 'side chicks'. The comment came days after a viral video showed Astronomer CEO Andy Byron embracing the company's HR chief Kristin Cabot on the big screen at a Coldplay show in Boston.
Wallen, 32, said on Friday night: 'Anybody in here with their side chick or whatever, I think you're safe here.' He added with a shrug: 'I don't condone cheating … anymore.' The moment was captured on video and shared online.
The original incident occurred on Wednesday night when Byron was seen with his arms wrapped around Cabot from behind. As the camera focused on them, Cabot covered her face and Byron crouched down to hide. Coldplay frontman Chris Martin joked: 'Oh, what...either they're having an affair or they're just very shy.'
Byron has since resigned from his position as CEO, and Cabot has been placed on leave pending an investigation. Astronomer released a statement saying: 'Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met.'
This is not the first time Wallen has made headlines for his behaviour. In April, he left the Saturday Night Live stage early after serving as musical guest, skipping the traditional cast congratulations. He later explained he was 'ready to go home' and had been there all week.
