First-look images of Michelle Keegan and Douglas Booth in the gripping new ITV crime drama The Blame have been released, offering a glimpse into the series that marks Keegan's return to acting after a break.
Plot and Cast
The six-part series synopsis teases: "The drama dives into secrets, suspicion and systemic corruption - all under the surface of this seemingly quiet town." The story begins when the body of teenage figure skater Sophie Madsen is discovered, sending shockwaves through the town of Wakestead.
As DI Crane and DI Radley dig deeper, what starts as a tragic death spirals into a tangled web of lies, institutional cover-ups, and moral compromise. ITV added that the drama, filmed in and around London, promises "complex characters, unexpected twists and a mystery at its core."
Alongside Keegan and Booth, the cast includes Ian Hart as DCI Kenneth Walker, Nathan Mensah as DC Lewis Brimah, Nigel Boyle as digital forensic technician Neil Shergill, Joe Armstrong as ice-skating coach Kyle Frasier, and Matilda Freeman as Sophie Madsen. Completing the team are Gavin Spokes, Josh Bolt, and Ceallach Spellman as members of the Wakestead Police.
Fan Reactions and Keegan's Return
After a first-look teaser dropped last month, viewers expressed excitement. One wrote: "This looks amazing," while another called it "great." A fan said: "It's Michelle Keegan we’ve got to watch it," and another echoed: "Anything with Michelle Keegan I'm in!!"
The Blame is Keegan's first role since welcoming her first child with Mark Wright and taking an acting break. Speaking earlier this year at ITV Showcase, she said: "Coming back to work after having a baby is quite daunting. The production were so supportive and I was so looked after and it was like working with family."
The series airs on ITV later this year.
