Michael Sheen single-handedly saves The Celebrity Traitors - because of a massive mistake
Michael Sheen single-handedly saves The Celebrity Traitors

Michael Sheen's explosive roundtable performance in episode nine of The Celebrity Traitors, where he named Kenny, Maya and James A as Traitors, has been hailed as the best moment of the series so far. The actor, known for his rousing speeches, finally let loose after keeping his suspicions private all series.

At the start of the penultimate episode, Sheen's frustration peaked after Joanne McNally's banishment. He walked out of the castle alone, with his voiceover saying: "I can't believe we missed our opportunity, when I see the votes coming for Joanne, I'm thinking 'no, no, this is our chance!'" Stating that "after today, maths is really against the faithfuls," he vowed to "sift through everything" and go back to the murder in plain sight.

Sheen's Bold Accusations

During the roundtable, Sheen named all three as Traitors, calling Maya and James A "passengers" who were riding along unnoticed. His head-to-head with Maya was described as fantastic, with him tapping on the cool, calm exterior of the Love Island presenter until it began to crack.

Sheen's speech was a passionate summons to his fellow Faithfuls, declaring: "I tell you what, to the Traitors sitting around this table, today is going to be a living hell." He added: "I am going to push and push and push and you are going to suffer! It is the apocalypse today."

The Best Roundtable of the Series

The episode led to the most jaw-dropping moment in the entire Traitors universe: James A's pre-vote confession. James A even complimented Sheen's reasoning and methodical steps to out him.

Sheen, who is about to play Owain Glyndwr, the last native Prince of Wales, has been compared to his motivational speeches for the Wales football team and his role as Nye Bevan. Romesh, who was present for the League of Their Own speech, instigated a cheers "to suffering."

In the closing minutes, Maya admitted that Sheen is her biggest threat, but she appeared to be erring on the side of not murdering him. The final moments were awkward, with Leigh-Anne's "friends for life" comment providing a lighter note. Sheen and Maya were the last two left, and the question remains whether the Traitors will murder him tonight.
