With two months to go until the answers to Max Branning's (Jake Wood) flashforward episode are revealed in EastEnders, he finds himself in another nightmare situation next week.
Amid Lee Carter's (Danny Hatchard) return, Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) learns that he spent the night on Sean Slater's (Rob Kazinsky) floor after too many drinks. Before she can chastise him, Linda answers a call on his phone and is completely shocked by what she hears.
Linda seeks support and confronts Janine
After turning to Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) and Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) for support, Linda later speaks to Max about the developments. Max tries to support Linda, but they are interrupted by Lee making a drunken scene at the pub.
Realising she needs answers, Linda heads off to confront Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks). Following their showdown, Linda returns home and refuses to believe what she has discovered from Janine.
Max makes a fateful choice
Linda has a heart to heart with Max, and they conclude they will face the situation head on and get further answers from Janine. Just as this happens, Max makes a decision that could be one he lives to regret.
Later, Linda prepares to tell Lee, Nancy Carter (Maddy Hill) and Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff) the truth of what she has discovered, but the siblings vanish, leaving Linda and Max with no choice but to head out and look for them.
Chaos and regret
When Zack Hudson (James Farrar) finds Nancy, things descend into chaos as she realises her waters have broken. As the week draws to a close, Max is seen in the pub, drowning his sorrows, full of regret over his actions.
