Matt Damon has said there was "no special treatment" for the star-studded cast of Christopher Nolan's upcoming film The Odyssey, which he described as a levelling experience for everyone involved.
Speaking to People, the Oscar winner recounted how even the director was not spared the harsh conditions during shoots at sea. "If you're out on a boat in the middle of the ocean and you get caught in a storm, you get wet with everybody else," he said. "Nobody's getting a hot beverage that you're not getting. Everybody's on equal footing, including Chris, who was just as cold and wet as everybody else throughout the whole thing."
Damon added that the shared hardship forged a strong bond among the cast and crew. "I do feel really bonded with everybody who was on that movie, cast and crew, because it was so challenging for everyone."
The film is an adaptation of Homer's ancient Greek epic, with Damon starring as Odysseus, who endures a decade of trials on his journey home to Penelope after the Trojan War. It is due for release on 17 July. The ensemble also includes Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron and Jon Bernthal, among many others.
