BBC Faces MasterChef Dilemma Over Gregg Wallace Allegations

The BBC is reportedly divided over whether to broadcast this year's series of MasterChef, which prominently features presenter Gregg Wallace, who has been accused of inappropriate behaviour. The Guardian reports that production company Banijay has completed and delivered the 2024 series, with Wallace appearing as a judge up to the finale.

Wallace stepped aside from the show after BBC News received allegations from 13 people over a 17-year period. A report into his conduct is expected this week. On Tuesday, BBC News said over 50 more individuals had come forward with claims, including groping and exposing himself, which Wallace has denied.

Wallace admitted using inappropriate language but claimed in an Instagram statement that he had been 'cleared of the most serious and sensational accusations'. The BBC's Director General, Tim Davie, is expected to decide the show's fate.

A source told The Sun that while the series was shelved during the investigation, bosses now face a decision due to the involvement of amateur chefs. Editing Wallace out is not feasible, and cancelling the series would waste the efforts of contestants.
