It was another brutal elimination round for MasterChef Australia on Monday night. Budding cook Belinda was the latest to be sent home after her flatbread and dip failed to impress the judges.
Belinda's Heartbreaking Exit
As a big fan of the show, Belinda was heartbroken to have to leave the competition so soon in the season. She broke down as she explained her disappointment in being eliminated after a lacklustre performance.
'I didn't cook good today so I feel I deserve it,' Belinda said, tears rolling down her cheeks. 'And that's hard because I would really love to have been able to cook a really good dish today that I could go out and be proud of,' she continued.
Belinda went on to say that she would be challenging herself as a chef now that she's been inspired by her time on MasterChef. 'I've learnt that I would like to now try and take my cooking to another level,' she said.
Previous Elimination: Jeff's Pie Failure
The competition was also heating up on last Wednesday's episode of MasterChef Australia. One cook was ousted from the kitchen after a brutal pressure test from guest judge, legendary chef Maggie Beer. The bottom five were tasked with creating a pie from scratch.
It was Jeff who was eliminated, after his dish failed to impress the panel of judges. Jeff served up a Hong Kong-style chicken pie along with garlic chilli oil and Chinese broccoli. But his undercooked crust was his undoing, with the judges cutting points for the raw base and too much spring onion.
Jeff became the second contestant to depart the competition, but said that he still plans to achieve his dream of opening a bakery.
First Elimination: Meg's Overabundant Plate
It was the first elimination of the season on MasterChef Australia last Monday. And in a surprising turn of events, a contestant who served nothing but a single pancake has made it to the next round.
Things went from bad to worse for cook Jackie when, in her rush, she failed to plate her duck breast. As the clock ticked down to the final seconds, she placed her shallot pancake on the plate, but forgot the meat. That left the hapless chef serving only the lone pancake to the panel of judges.
While what she did serve got a good review and favourable comments, Jackie still ended up in the bottom two. However, it was Meg who was eliminated, despite serving up an abundance of food for the judges.
