Disney+ has confirmed that Malcolm In The Middle: Life’s Still Unfair, a sequel to the beloved comedy series, will launch in April 2026. The four-episode special event is billed as a continuation of the original show, which ran from 2000 to 2006.
The new series catches up with a grown-up Malcolm, who now has a well-paid job, a teen daughter named Leah, and a girlfriend. However, his carefully ordered life is threatened when his mother Lois demands he attend her and husband Hal’s 40th anniversary party. The synopsis teases family chaos, including possible screaming matches with brother Reese and fresh pressure from his mum.
Most of the main cast returns, including Christopher Masterson (Francis), Justin Berfield (Reese), and Kiana Madeira as a new character, Tristan. The original series creator Linwood Boomer and producer Tracy Katsky noted that there are currently no discussions about a second season, but they have not ruled it out, pending viewership data.
Malcolm In The Middle: Life’s Still Unfair is rated 12+ on Disney+ and Hulu. In the UK, it will be available via Sky’s Ultimate TV bundle, which now includes Disney+ alongside other streaming services.
