Made in Manchester Festival Gets Licence for Stockport Farm Event
Made in Manchester Festival Licence Approved for Stockport

Stockport Council has granted a licence for the Made in Manchester festival to take place at Waterside Farm in Romiley, with organisers expecting up to 5,000 attendees across two days. The event, organised by Leeds-based Manchester Event Catering Ltd, will feature tribute acts to Taylor Swift, Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, ABBA, and the Stone Roses, alongside a funfair, food village, and exotic animal displays.

Revised Schedule and Capacity

Originally planned for four days from August 28 to 31, the licence only permits the festival on Saturday August 29 and Sunday August 30. Organisers anticipate around 3,000 visitors on Saturday and 2,000 on Sunday. The event, now in its sixth year, aims to celebrate the Manchester music scene with local talent and tribute bands.

Licensing Conditions and Community Engagement

At the licensing meeting on July 7, Erduvan Osman, representing the company, stated he had experience working behind the scenes at Parklife Festival and Manchester Pride. He emphasised a commitment to minimising disruption: “We are not going to have any plans to, excuse my French, p*** off anybody. I really do not want to do that.” Osman assured councillors that teams would address any issues, adding, “It’s not just about me standing onstage clapping my hands to Oasis. It doesn’t interest me to be honest. My interest is building a good safe festival.”

Event Details and Pricing

The festival will be held on Mill Lane field, adjacent to Waterside Farm, which also hosts the weekly Big Stockport Car Boot Sale. Children’s tickets are priced at £12.50 plus a £1.25 booking fee, while a family weekend pass (two adults and two children) costs £130 plus a £13 booking fee. Infants enter free. The event will also donate to charity.

Safety and Compliance

Licensing conditions proposed by Greater Manchester Police and the council’s environmental health team have been attached to the permit. Live and recorded music is allowed between 4pm and 11.30pm on Friday (not granted), midday to 11.30pm on Saturday and Sunday, and midday to 7pm on Monday (not granted). Alcohol sales are permitted both on and off the premises. One local resident raised concerns about public nuisance and safety, but the licence was approved with conditions.
