BBC One has released a new trailer for the second season of Ludwig, the detective drama starring David Mitchell as master puzzle-setter John 'Ludwig' Taylor and Anna Maxwell Martin as his sister-in-law Lucy.

Season two premieres on Thursday, August 20 at 9pm on BBC One, with the first three episodes also available on iPlayer at the same time. The first season aired in March 2025 and received high praise, scoring 96 out of 100 on Rotten Tomatoes.

Plot Synopsis
The synopsis states: "Master puzzle-setter John 'Ludwig' Taylor is now a crime scene consultant, working alongside DCI Russell Carter (Dipo Ola) on 'impossible' crimes for the Cambridge Police Authority."
"But with his identical twin brother still missing, John and his sister-in-law Lucy won't stop – there's a puzzle to solve and a husband and father to bring home. One masquerade may have ended, but a new one has just begun."

The new trailer features missing detectives, multiple murders, and high-ranking cover-ups. In the opening scenes, Lucy asks Ludwig: "Why has nobody been in touch?" He responds: "Well, presumably nobody has been murdered, do you want someone to get murdered?" The phone then rings, and he tells her: "Well, I hope you feel guilty."
