Five Contestants Exit Love Island Villa Days Before Final
Love Island favourite Ellie Chadwick was left in floods of tears during her final moments before choosing to quit the ITV programme. The 24-year-old videographer has departed the show alongside four other Islanders, who were booted off following a public vote.
Maya Jama made her return to the villa on Thursday (July 16) and disclosed that viewers at home had been casting their votes for their favourite boy and girl. She then revealed Martha Rothwell, Elicia Bailey and Mica Harris as the girls who received the lowest number of votes, placing them in danger of being axed from the Island. The boys facing elimination were Jordon Wilson, Finley Maddock and Samraj Toor.
Elicia and Jordon Dumped After Public Vote
Elicia and Jordon were confirmed as having received the fewest votes, sealing the fate of their Love Island adventure, reports OK!. As their fellow contestants responded to the dumping, Elicia confessed: "I've had the best time ever."
But just as the Islanders believed the evening was finished, Maya then confirmed that another boy and girl would also be shown the door. Speaking to the group, she revealed: "That decision will be down to all of you. Today, you all gave your opinions anonymously but now it's time to be honest face to face."
Islanders Vote to Eject Finley and Martha
The Islanders were compelled to choose another boy and girl to eject from the villa. The majority of the Islanders opted to kick Finley off the programme because he has had a roving eye despite being partnered with Ellie. After considerable deliberation, Kavan Murphy announced the group's decision, stating: "The show is to find love and we believe the decision we've come to gives the best possible chance of doing that."
They ultimately sent Finley and Martha packing. However, their choice left Ellie bewildered as she tearfully declared: "I'm going, I can't do it. I'm going, I said I would."
Viewers React to Ellie's Departure
Viewers at home have flocked to X, formerly Twitter, to voice their dismay over Ellie's departure. One wrote: "Ellie pleaseeee." Another commented: "Finley wouldn't leave if the roles were reversed, I wish Ellie could see the bigger picture #LoveIsland #loveislanduk," while a third observed: "Ellie and Finley won't even make it to the airport never mind the final."
A fourth suggested: "I feel like Ellie wasn't even really leave for Fin, she just didn't wanna be there any more." Love Island continues on ITV2 and ITVX tomorrow at 9pm.
