Love Island spin-off ‘Heading Home’ to follow couples after villa

Love Island fans need not despair after tonight's final, as a spin-off show has been planned following the couples back to the UK. The new series, titled 'Love Island: Heading Home', will air next Sunday at 9pm on ITV2, offering an inside look at the island romances as they navigate the real world.

The show will feature the couples meeting for the first time after the villa, alongside meetings with in-laws and first dates. ITV2 bosses have reportedly ordered the follow-up due to the huge success of this year's series, with a source telling The Sun: “Show bosses want to see the couples go on dates or film in each other’s houses and cameras will follow their every move.”

Among those expected to take part are favourites to win Kady McDermott and Scott Thomas, Cara De Le Hoyde and Nathan Massey, and already evicted couple Emma-Jane Woodham and Terry Walsh. Last night, the remaining Islanders were visited by their families, leading to emotional reunions.

Kady McDermott broke down in tears when her mother and grandfather surprised her in the villa. Her mother praised her relationship with Scott, saying: “You and Scott are so like each other. I love him Kady, he’s so sweet.” Scott later met Kady's family and admitted: “I really wanted their approval.” The couple also received a surprise visit from Scott's mother and auntie, who told him they had seen a nicer side to him during his time on the show.
