As Samraj and Mica packed their bags, a text message revealed that only three couples could progress to the final, and they were tasked with choosing one more couple to leave with them. The decision, set to be revealed during the finale, has sparked outrage among viewers who feel the public has been sidelined.
One fan on Reddit vented: 'Not including the public in important decisions has hurt this season more than anything else.' They argued that eliminated islanders have been given 'too much power' to influence the competition, with limited public votes throughout the series—only three or four in total.
The fan pointed out that fan favourite couple Julia and Lorenzo, who topped every vote they were in, could be left out of the final entirely. 'It's possible that we're going into a final where we won't have Ellie, Julia, or Lorenzo... why would people ultimately tune in every day if they can't express their opinion through voting?'
Another viewer agreed: 'This is a stupid twist... I don't even want Julia and Lorenzo to win, I'm rooting for Angie and Simba, but it's mad stupid if we'll have a finale without the favourite couple.' However, some fans of the US version praised the UK show's approach, saying it gave islanders insight without giving the public full control.
