Loose Women has been pulled from ITV schedules for the summer, with presenter Kaye Adams confirming the show will return in September. The announcement was made during Friday's episode on July 17, as Adams told viewers: "We're done for the summer. We will not be gone for long though, we'll be back in September."
The scheduling change is part of wider cost-cutting measures at ITV, with the programme now set to broadcast for only 30 weeks of the year, down from its customary 52. The shake-up also affects other daytime shows, with Lorraine reduced to a 30-minute format and operating on a seasonal schedule.
Behind-the-scenes jobs have been cut, and live audiences have been scrapped, a move that presenter Nadia Sawalha described as "devastating". Coleen Nolan also called the redundancies "heartbreaking". Loose Women recently relocated to a basement studio in Covent Garden, sharing the venue with This Morning and Lorraine.
ITV's Managing Director Kevin Lygo said the changes would allow the network to "deliver a schedule providing viewers with the news, debate and discussion they love" while generating savings to reinvest in other genres. The show's summer break is expected to last until September.
