Logie Awards Tribute to Neighbours Labelled 'Embarrassing' and 'Insulting' by Fans and Cast

The Logie Awards of 2022 have come under fire for what many have described as a lacklustre tribute to the long-running Australian soap Neighbours, which is set to end this summer after 37 years.

During the ceremony on June 19, former stars Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Daniel MacPherson presented a brief montage and spoke about the show's legacy. However, current cast members and fans took to social media to express their disappointment, with Matt Wilson, who plays Aaron Brennan, calling the tribute insufficient.

Wilson wrote on Instagram Stories: '37 years and this is all we get.' Co-star Ben Turland echoed the sentiment, commenting 'Yeah cheers aye?' on a post from TV Week. A reporter from TV Tonight also revealed that the attending cast were seated with obstructed views.

Not everyone was critical; Alan Fletcher, who plays Karl Kennedy, thanked TV Week and the Logies for honouring the show. Neighbours continues to air on Channel 5 in the UK and 10 Peach in Australia.
