Showrunner's Vision and Renewal for Season 2
Showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine (The Vampire Diaries, The Boys) said: 'I fell deeply in love with these books when I was 5 years old. They inspired me to become a writer and a filmmaker, and I am honored and thrilled to be adapting these stories for a new audience.'
Netflix has already commissioned a second series before the first episode aired, demonstrating strong faith in the production. Sonnenshine told Netflix's Tudum: 'I'm incredibly grateful to our wonderful cast and crew, who put their hearts and hard work into making our first season come alive. We can't wait to share this new adaptation of the Little House books with the world, and we're thrilled that Netflix is giving us the opportunity to continue the story.' According to Tudum, the swift renewal indicates a growing appetite for 'feel-good, heartland-rooted comfort programming,' similar to series such as Virgin River and Sweet Magnolias.
