Linda Robson has revealed the heartbreaking reason her longtime friend and Birds of a Feather co-star Pauline Quirke decided to leave the show. In a new interview, the Loose Women star, 65, explained that 64-year-old Pauline missed her family and never enjoyed performing in front of a live audience, often doubting her own abilities.
Robson told Mail+ that Pauline would rush home after work and struggled with the studio days that required live performances. 'For someone who is as brilliant as Pauline, it’s really sad how much she doubts her own ability and gets herself so nervous,' she said.
The actress also shared the exact moment Pauline told her she was done with acting. In 2020, ahead of a proposed Christmas special, Pauline said: 'I don’t want to act any more. It’s not Birds Of A Feather itself, it’s everything. I feel like I’m done with it. I feel bad for you two, but you can go on without me.'
Despite rumours of a fallout, Robson was quick to dismiss any suggestion of a feud, describing their friendship as one that would outlast any TV show. The pair met at a North London primary school and have been friends for over 50 years, supporting each other through every major life event.
Robson and Quirke were last seen together publicly in 2022, meeting up with co-star Lesley Joseph for lunch in central London, in a bid to quash any speculation of a rift.
