M.I.A.
Set in Miami's murky underbelly, this crime thriller from Ozark co-creator Bill Dubuque stars Shannon Gisela as Etta Tiger Jonze, a young woman whose family was slaughtered in a drug feud. She escapes and seeks revenge, Kill Bill-style, against an entire organised crime gang. The glossy, gratuitously explosive drama leans into its absurd reality. Streaming on Paramount+ from Thursday.
The Chestnut Man: Hide and Seek
In this new case from the moody Danish crime thriller, a creepy nursery rhyme is the calling card of a murderous stalker. After a five-year break, mismatched detectives Naia Thulin and Mark Hess reunite, but personal business remains unfinished. A grisly case unfolds with plenty of twists and turns. From the producers of Homeland, this drama about Israeli security services will raise eyebrows. It tells the story of Israeli woman Gali, charged with drug trafficking in Moscow, and her mother Orna, who frantically tries to free her, unaware of a bigger geopolitical game. Whether this is the right time for such a thriller remains to be seen, but it's played straight as a tale of innocents in over their heads. Streaming on Apple TV from Friday.
