On The Daily Show, Jordan Klepper covered Donald Trump’s recent visit to a General Motors facility in Michigan, showing footage of him walking past cars and knocking on one hood. “Knocking on the car hood is probably the most normal thing he’s ever done,” Klepper said, likening it to typical dad behavior.
Heckler calls Trump ‘pedophile protector’ again
During his speech, a heckler again shouted “pedophile protector” at Trump – the same insult used during his January Michigan visit. Trump responded, “Show some respect for the office. That’s President Pedophile Protector.”
Klepper questioned: “Why does this keep happening? Is it the same guy? Is it something in the water? Is it because Trump withheld millions of Epstein files and no one has been held accountable for it? We’ll never know!”
Trump called the heckler a communist. Klepper remarked that “communist” is the “opposite of pedophile,” joking: “We all remember Karl Marx hosting To Catch a Predator.” Addressing the heckler directly, Klepper said, “Don’t shout crazy shit at him, he was elected to shout crazy shit at us.”
Trade route controversy and ‘war on drugs’
A new trade route from Michigan to Ontario was clouded by Trump’s 50% tariff on Canada, which led to cancellation of a joint ribbon-cutting ceremony. “It’s so heartbreaking to see mum and dad fighting like this,” Klepper said, but noted Trump is “beefing with the entire rest of the world.”
Klepper also covered Trump’s “losing his war on drugs,” after a long-term boat-targeted operation failed to reduce cocaine amount or purity, instead pushing drug lords to find new smuggling methods. “The same people who found a way to sneak in a powder using your butt,” Klepper said, “are pretty good at problem-solving.”
Seth Meyers on Graham funeral, tainted chocolate, and goldfish warnings
On Late Night, Seth Meyers discussed Trump’s speech at Lindsey Graham’s funeral, predicting the president would claim the late senator would want to point out “the 2020 election had massive voting irregularities and Trump barely knew Jeffrey Epstein.”
A report showed that Taylor Farms tried to delay an FDA recall announcement after an alleged explosive diarrhea outbreak. “If I understand correctly, cyclospora makes it very hard to delay anything,” Meyers joked.
The American Museum of Natural History displayed a replica of the New York Knicks championship trophy. “You can also see a Mets trophy at Ripley’s Believe It or Not,” Meyers quipped.
Kids in New Jersey fell ill after eating chocolate laced with mushrooms. Meyers said it was “the day they all learned how to make a campfire with their minds.”
Canada issued warnings to stop dumping goldfish. “Things are going well if their biggest problem is loose goldfish,” Meyers said.
Finally, a new Starbucks-Delta Air Lines deal rewards members with one sky mile per dollar spent. “Do you know how much coffee you’d have to drink to get a free trip?” Meyers asked. “You wouldn’t need a plane.”
